CHUCK PROJECT
CHUCK PROJECT
Led by Mexican bassist Miguel Rodríguez, the project was born in the end of 2011 with the purpose of displaying the work done by new generations of musicians who are engaged in creating a new movement in the national scene. They are right now doing their first recording.
« In music, with the passing of time, the number of people you interact with is always rising. Some are just brief encounters, others are collaborations, and yet others are learning encounters. Amongst all of them, there are a few special ones, like the one I had with my friend Alger Erosa, a great guitarist from Mérida, Yucatán, who I had met in Mexico City around 1999. He gave me my very first Marc Berthoumieux record (he had played in Mérida around that time).
I have a story to tell about all the musicians participating in this record. Tales about extraordinary events and magnificent coincidences. We all come from different paths and different generations, yet the most valuable in the differences is the voice and authenticity I found in each one of them. I decided to compose the music thinking that, someday, I would record all of it with them. I did this without knowing if they would agree to. I watched them, I listened to them, I attended their gigs, I was a fan of their records. Life gave me the chance of getting them togheter and of making this project with them, thought for them, built as something I enjoyed many times in my head before it became a reality. Now it is real, and that makes me very happy. »
